In 2022 I graduated from the Universität der Künste (DE) with an MA in Sound Studies & Sonic Arts: a forward thinking course with a diverse, international student base. At UdK I explored the use of sound within a nexus of transdisciplinary, media-based practices including, installation, performance, interactive media, virtual reality. The course encourages a fusion of historical and theoretical knowledge with a user of cutting-edge sound creation and reproduction technologies.
My BSc at the Univertsity of Leeds (UK), completed in 2017, was in "Music, Multimedia & Electronics." This interdisciplinary course combined the technical know-how of electronic engineering, including programming, mathematics and signal processing, with the developoment of a technology-based approach to music making. My bachelor thesis was a group project developing a prototype for an interface which would, through tactile and visual feedback, aid hearing-impaired musicians play their instruments.
As a composer for media the majority of my experience has been in audiobooks, podcasts and performance; however, my biggest strength is my adaptability and the desire to work in new contexts. It is when I'm placed in an unfamiliar situation that I come up with my strongest ideas.
I am a dexterous guitarist and have very recently (after a considerable hiatus) re-discovered the purity of playing an instrument. I've practiced a wide variety of styles: blues/country/black-metal/jazz and pull a little from each when I make my own Music.
My current obsessions involve:
- Convolution Reverbs
- Gamecube Nostalgia
- Chords
- Behavioural Biology
- Artificial Intelligence
- Autechre
